So you're pregnant. A huge congratulations! if you’ve got the swollen feet and you can’t see your toes its probably a good time to start looking for a Newborn photographer. As newborn photography is increasing in popularity so are maternity sessions. Choosing the right photographer is a very personal choice and there are a lot of factors to consider when your enquiring and browsing through numerous social media platforms and googling all those websites to help narrow down that selection.
Having the same photographer to do both your shoots
Do you want the same photographer to do both your sessions? Building a relationship, and getting to know your photographer is a great way to establish wether they will be a good fit for your newborn session too. Working with someones brand new baby is a huge privilege, their newborn baby is the most precious person to them so knowing they like and trust you helps me and them to relax and enjoy the session. I love it when my maternity clients come and see the studio prior to their newborn session. They can see all my newborn props, hats, and accessories and also the large array of products including wall art options which are mainly newborn photographs. All my maternity clients all receive a £50 discount off their newborn shoot.
Choosing your Maternity and Newborn Photographer
As a mum of two and someone who’s had two maternity sessions I want to share my experience. For me there was a couple of factors, I wanted a female photographer, like most women I felt like a small whale and with low self esteem and the inability to resist a biscuit tin I wanted to be comfortable in dresses and even underwear and have someone who understood that I might be a little shy. Style was a huge aspect for me too, a photographers style is something very personal and as a creative myself I chose someone who’s style suited me and the result I wanted. Maternity photographs are capturing a very precious fleeting time.
