Maternity Photographs - Capturing more than just a bump

MATERNITY PHOTOS CHESHIRE-1.jpg

I feel like a Maternity photograph not only captures the beautiful body, it embraces a real special moment in that time. For me when I look back at my professional bump photographs, I see not just a changing body, I see a person, a women who at that time was full of excitement and fear, someone who has no clue of the life changing event that was inevitably going to happen.

When I have my maternity sessions I see that too, most women haven’t been in front of a camera before, let alone show casing this new body that changes from to day to day. I want you to come for a maternity photo session at my studio and feel relaxed, to laugh and chat, and know that my promise to you is to capture this extra special unique time and show you just how amazing your doing and also what a beautiful person you are.

I remember having my own maternity session. I was about 36-37 weeks pregnant, my biggest concerns were that my bump was too shiny (it was like a football) and wether my lashes were too big (not even sure that’s possible)

At the time I felt like a small whale, and in reality I was a 26 year old first time mum to be with not much adoration for the amazing job my body was doing or what wonderful miracle I was about to meet. I was more focused on my ‘all day’ sickness and the fact my feet could fit into just one pair of shoes. I was very critical of the areas that had changed and evolved to help my growing baby. As women we are very self critical we fear the beauty that is different or the stereotype that is ‘perfection’. When in fact who we are and who we become as mothers is a massive deal and something to be extremely proud of. Not something to be picked apart by are crazy female minds.

Being pregnant then and now capturing those maternity photos is something that rings deep in me, at the time of my first bump shoot, I trusted my photographer immensely she was someone I knew and I felt comfortable with. As a female photographer I hope the ladies that come to me feel the same. I often have long email or phone consultations to not only discuss their preferences in terms of style, dresses, lighting etc but to help them relax and get to know me. I love to hear all about your journey so far, what names you have planned, how those cute baby wardrobes are coming along - I am a real person and a girls girl, I like to get to know you... your not just a pregnant lady in front of my camera your someone I hope to see again and help you capture your growing family as it evolves and changes.

Most common questions - When booking a Maternity Photoshoot

What will I wear?

All dresses, gowns and fabrics are provided, I have a huge wardrobe of many coloured items and styles you will normally select 2-3 dresses and we also do ether a Nude/Undewear set and a fabric covered set too.

What if I have blemishes or stretch marks

Each image is carefully edited to your preferences, some people want their stretch marks kept in, some lightened slightly but still visible and some people want them taken off. This is your journey and I am keen to make this experience the best it can be and get the results you want.

Should I do my hair and make up or hire someone?

Yes! This is an experience after all, I want you to feel the best you can and what girl donest love being pampered. You can hire your own MUA an hair person or I have someone you can book too for an additional fee.

I want to do an underwear or Naked shot but I’m so shy?

First thing is the studio is very private. Any images taken are for eyes only (unless your happy for me to use them for website etc) I never share anything without permission. If you want a shot like this we can see how you feel on the day, everything is very tasteful.

I hate getting my photo taken

Me too. I have only ever met a handful of ladies who are confident in front of the camera, I want you to feel relaxed and also trust me. The ladies you see in my maternity gallery are all normal ladies non are models, you will look amazing.

Can I have maternity photos with my partner and children?

100% Yes. This is an addition to your family, its a very special moment in time. Having two children I also have lots of patience with children so don’t worry about little ones taking extra time settling in. I also provide kinder eggs for bribery.

When is the best time to have maternity photos taken?

I would say between 28-36 weeks is perfect. However having a visible bump is key. With both my babies I had really small bumps so left it till as late as possible. However if your carrying well or its a second or third baby sometimes you can get away with coming a little earlier than the advised times.

Last of all if your reading this and on the fence about booking a session, I would love to hear from you, if you have extra questions or want to learn more please get in touch! ….Heather x
